Pulled Crispy Chicken

We love the website Gawker for reasons like… being able to post the short lived Mary commercial where she stands on a table and sings about BK’s crispy chicken.

Burger King pulled the ad from everywhere yesterday (except Gawker) and made the following statement: “The Mary J. Blige advertisement has been pulled due to a licensing issue. BURGER KING® expects to have the Blige ads back on air soon.”

Rumor has it that people got offended that a black woman was singing about fried chicken. It’s that stereotype thing again. I’ll tell you one thing, her fans didn’t get offended. They love Mary. We love Mary. Seriously, if the Queen of Hip Hop Soul wants to endorse crispy chicken, power to her and even more power to her for making $20 million dollars to sing it.

It’s not a Mary album, it’s a commercial!

Honest to Pete, what’s next ? Offended because a black woman is singing about fried chicken ? Really? I guess people would be offended if they showed a Jewish guy /gal doing a commercial for banking then too ? Or how about a dentist doing commercial for candy ? See how you can take the little things and make them ridiculous ……….puuuullleeeaaassseee , people rethink , rethink !
