Saving Face
Let’s face it. (Sorry for the pun). None of us want to look tired or weathered. That gives the appearance that we don’t take good care of ourselves. I would like to think that I do take good care of myself. In fact, I have spent so much money taking care of my face that it’s borderline ridiculous. I just did a bathroom closet purge and discovered 3 types of collagen serums, 4 tubes of exfoliant, 2 small jars of caviar eye cream, 3 tubes of Retin A derivatives and several tightening masks that have all dried up or expired from being buried underneath all of my hair serums (that’s another blog entirely). I am a sucker for anything that may make my face look as good as it can. You know how some of us can’t resist a handbag? I get weak at the knees over the next greatest facial ointment. I have tried them all even though I know that the aging thing is just a fact of life that can’t successfully be reversed no matter how much we do to ourselves…including the dreaded surgery. I don’t know about you, but I get pissed when words like “well rested” and “refreshed” get thrown in our faces because when you equate that with a youthful face, it’s just not fair.
I am well rested. I am refreshed and I am also pissed. What a combo.
P.S. The picture is from Terry Gilliam’s film, “Brazil”. Rent it, it’s out there, literally.
